A strange video released by Paypal on the company's Youtube channel appears to mention Bitcoin roughly 8 minutes in. We don't quite know what to make of it. We will update this page as we learn more.
Update 1: Pure Speculation: Paypal may release Bitcoin integration today to steal thunder from Apple's event tomorrow, where they are rumored to be announcing their entrance into the mobile payments space.
If they were to integrate Bitcoin, it would most likely be used as a method to add funds to your account. Then the account would show a Paypal balance denominated in your local currency. This would be the easiest integration path for Paypal and would allow them to maintain their current customer protections and dispute policy.
Update 2 11:15am – 11:25am PT LIVESTREAM CEO Bill Ready (Braintree/Paypal) to speak at Techcrunch's Disrupt SF.
Update 3 Jason Del Rey of re/code says they have two sources confirming that Braintree, the payments subsidiary of eBay, will begin offering some level of Bitcoin integration within its services. They are light on specifics.
Update 4 Official Announcement Released - Braintree integration coming soon but no full Paypal integration at this time.
